 5G Americas applauds the confirmation of Federal Communications Chairman Ajit Pai to a new five-year term. 5G Americas has appreciated Chairman Pai’s regulatory philosophy and understanding of the competitive market dynamics in mobile wireless as the industry progresses toward 5G. In particular, 5G Americas is encouraged by Chairman Pai’s vision of the importance of 5G to operators, manufacturers and all U.S. citizens. Chairman’s Pai’s openness and leadership -- on wireless, public safety and broadband issues – will help ensure the U.S. continues to lead on 5G readiness. 5G Americas congratulates the Senate for their confirmation of Chairman Pai. Chairman Pai has a long-standing history with telecommunications policy, telecommunications law and the FCC. He has served at the FCC as a Commissioner from 2012 to 2017 and then as Chairman since January of 2017. Before serving at the FCC he was a senior Senate counsel, practiced communications law, and was the FCC Deputy General Counsel, Associate General Counsel, and Special Advisor to the General Counsel from 2007-2011.
