Leading 5G visionary global organizations from the world’s regions welcomed Telebrasil – Projeto “5G Brasil” as a party to the Multilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the “Global 5G Event” with 5G Forum (Korea), 5G Americas (Americas), IMT-2020 (5G) Promotion Group (China), the 5G Infrastructure Association (5G-IA, Europe) and the Fifth-Generation Mobile Communications Promotion Forum (5GMF, Japan).

 
Prof. Jose Marcos C. Brito, Secretary General of Telebrasil – Projeto “5G Brasil” signed an accession agreement for the MoU on 24 May 2017 during the 3rd Global 5G Event in Tokyo, Japan hosted by 5GMF.
 

 
The original signatories of the MoU that was announced in October 2015, pledged to cooperate in organizing a series of bi-annual “Global 5G Events” in the interest of efficiency and building global consensus on 5G. Projecto “5G” Brasil now joins this worldwide leadership in fostering the next, 5th Generation of wireless technology.

 
The fourth of the bi-annual events will be hosted in Seoul, South Korea by 5G Forum in November of 2017.

Prof. Jose Marcos C. Brito, Secretary General of Telebrasil – Projeto “5G Brasil”, declared
“5G will revolutionize the telecommunications industry in Brazil and worldwide. The technological challenges for defining and deploying this network are enormous. For the first time, Brazil is having the opportunity to participate in the process of defining the technology of a new generation of mobile communications network. The signing of this multilateral agreement is of fundamental importance to bring together the initiatives being developed in the 5G Brazil Project with those that are under development in the main centers of research and development in the world and also with the activities developed in the main organizations of the world responsible to define, standardize and develop the future 5G network. For the 5G Brazil project is an honor and a great responsibility to participate in the Multilateral Agreement. We hope that this partnership will be successful and bring important results."
 

 
Susumu Yoshida, Chair of 5GMF stated 
 
 
“5GMF welcomes the Telebrasil - Projeto "5G Brasil" to accede the parties to the Multilateral MoU for the “Global 5G Event". We expect that the development and commercialization of 5G systems will be accelerated with a more global framework in order to activate "Crossover Collaboration" which would be the shortest way to realize an eco-society expanding by 5G systems.”
 

 
DongKu KIM, Chair of Executive Committee, 5G Forum, stated 
 
 
“5G Forum looks forward to the active role of Telebrasil-Projeto “5G Brasil” to lead the “Crossover Collaboration” in South America.  Now, it is time that we take another step forward together closer discussion in the level of government, industries, operators, and institutes in the Multilateral MOU.”

“Following the signature of the bilateral MoU between 5G-IA and Telebrasil in February 2017, 5G-IA welcomes the addition of Telebrasil - Projeto "5G Brasil" to the Multilateral MoU for “Global 5G Event". We look forward to working with the new Brazilian partners to deepen the cooperation and help accelerate the global development and commercialization of 5G systems.”
