 Dolby Barcelona wishes to encourage and reward novel scientific advances in areas related to audio and acoustics by young and emerging researchers connected to Barcelona. We are supporting an award for the best scientific paper in these areas.
Any young researchers with any relation with Barcelona or Catalonia who had a paper on audio, acoustics, or related areas, published or presented in 2021 and 202, are encouraged to participate, at most late on 30th April. Winner will be entitled to a gift card voucher worth 750€ and will have the opportunity to present his or her work to the researchers in Dolby Barcelona.
The Dolby office in Barcelona started when Dolby Labs acquired the startup Immound, which was a pioneer in bringing immersive audio to cinemas. Since then, the technology behind Imsound has been integrated into Dolby Atmos. Dolby Atmos allows creatives everywhere to place each sound exactly where they want it to go, creating a more realistic and immersive audio experience. Currently there are 25+ engineers and researchers in the Dolby office in Barcelona developing the new frontiers of audio experiences.
